Yellow and Green Invigorate the Home

Thursday, April 2nd, 2009

The colors of spring are popping up everywhere, which is a welcomed sign that warmer weather is in fact on its way. Whether you find these colors inspirational for a wedding or interior décor, shades of yellow and green can brighten your mood just as easily as they can invigorate your home.

Below are three tips for adding life to your living room and seamlessly introducing this color palette into existing décor:

  1. Keep it simple by introducing these colors through accessories such as throw pillows, area rugs, drapery or even artwork
  2. Pair brighter shades of yellow and green with chocolate brown, kaki or cream to tone down the look
  3. Think about your style and the look you are trying to achieve and adjust the hues as needed. If you are drawn to bright colors that really pop, go for the more vibrant shades. On the other hand, if you gravitate towards calmer colors or are trying to design a more serene setting, use lighter shades paired with soft whites and creams.

Pantone View Colour Planner Winter 2010/2011 Sparks the Imagination

Tuesday, March 31st, 2009

Earlier this month, we shared Pantone’s 2010 color forecast from the 2009 International Home + Housewares Show. We also discussed the importance of using color to attract customers in a down economy.

Take a look at the PANTONE VIEW Colour Planner Winter 2010/2011, which was announced yesterday.

Laurie Pressman, vice president of fashion, home and interiors at Pantone, talks about how designers need to come up with ways of attracting customers through the use of color and goes on to say that the palettes in Mosaics “spark the imagination and help users create ingenious color compilations that enchant the eye and tantalize the consumers to buy.”
